About the Programs
What programs does Key Coaching offer?
Key Coaching offers three programs designed to meet families where they are:
  • Self-Study 21 Days to an Independent Teen — an on-demand program teens work through independently, with parent participation built in.
  • Signature Signature Program — a 3-month group coaching experience for parents and teens, with weekly coaching calls, on-demand content, and community support.
  • VIP VIP Program — a 6-month high-touch, personalized coaching program with private calls for your teen and you, on-demand content, and direct access to Colleen.
What ages do you work with?
It depends on the program:
  • 21 Days to an Independent Teen is designed for teens and tweens ages 10–18.
  • Signature Program serves teens and tweens ages 10–18, with a parent coaching component throughout.
  • VIP Program is available for tweens and teens ages 10–18 and includes personalized coaching tailored to your teen's specific age, stage, and executive functioning profile.
Not sure if your child's age is a good fit? Book a free discovery call and we'll figure it out together.
What is the KEY Method?
The KEY Method is the coaching framework behind every Key Coaching program. KEY stands for:
  • K — Building Knowledge: helping your teen understand themselves, their patterns, and what's expected of them.
  • E — Elevating Skills: teaching the practical executive functioning skills — planning, time management, organization, daily life skills — that independence runs on.
  • Y — Unlock YOU: building the emotional confidence, growth mindset, and self-belief that allow a teen to manage life without constant parent direction.
All three programs are built on the KEY Method — the same framework Colleen uses in her one-on-one coaching work.
Is this a therapy program?
No. Key Coaching provides executive functioning coaching and educational support — not therapy, counseling, or any form of licensed mental health treatment. If your teen is working with a therapist or other licensed professional, our programs can complement that work beautifully. When in doubt, consult your teen's provider before enrolling.
Do you work with teens who have ADHD, learning differences, or anxiety?
Yes — in fact, many of the families Colleen works with are navigating exactly these challenges. Executive functioning coaching is particularly effective for teens with ADHD, anxiety, and learning differences because it targets the specific skill gaps that underlie many of their struggles. That said, coaching is not a clinical intervention, and we always recommend working alongside your teen's medical or therapeutic team when applicable.
Getting Started
How do I know which program is right for my family?
A great place to start is the Teen Independence Scorecard — a free five-minute quiz that shows you exactly where your teen's independence gaps are and which skills need the most support. From there, a free discovery call with Colleen will help you figure out which program fits your family's needs, schedule, and goals.
Do you offer a free discovery call?
Yes — and we encourage it. A discovery call is a free 20–30 minute conversation with Colleen where you can share what's going on with your teen, ask questions about the programs, and get a clear sense of whether Key Coaching is the right fit. There's no pressure and no obligation. Book yours using the scheduling link on this page.
How do I schedule a call?
Use the booking link on this page to find a time that works for you. Once you book, you'll receive a confirmation with everything you need to know before the call. All calls are conducted virtually via Google Meet.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
In-person sessions are available for families enrolled in the Signature and VIP programs. Sessions take place in Parker, Colorado. If you are not local to the Parker area, all program content, coaching calls, and support are available fully online — so geography is never a barrier to getting started.
Teen Buy-In & Participation
What if my teen doesn't want to do this?
This is the most common question we get — and it's a fair one. Most teens don't wake up excited about executive functioning coaching. That's exactly why the Signature and VIP programs include a free Teen Buy-In Call with Colleen before the program begins. This is a one-on-one conversation between Colleen and your teen — no parents in the room — where Colleen meets them where they are, hears what matters to them, and helps them find their own reason to engage. It changes everything.
The Teen Buy-In Call is included at no extra cost for Signature and VIP enrollees. It is not included in the 21-Day self-study program.
How much does my teen need to participate versus me?
It depends on the program. The 21-Day program is primarily teen-driven, with daily lessons and activities your teen completes independently — parents have a supporting role. The Signature and VIP programs involve both your teen and you as a parent, with separate coaching components for each. The goal is always gradual responsibility transfer — your teen does more over time, and you do less.
What if my teen starts but loses motivation partway through?
This is normal — and it's built into the program design. The KEY Method includes reflection points, habit-building strategies, and re-commitment activities specifically because motivation dips. For Signature and VIP families, Colleen is available to help troubleshoot when participation stalls. The goal is progress over perfection, and we're in it with you.
Program Logistics
How much time does the program require each week?
  • 21 Days to an Independent Teen: approximately 10–20 minutes per day for your teen, plus light parent review.
  • Signature Program: one weekly group coaching call (approximately 60 minutes) plus on-demand lesson time of roughly 15–20 minutes per week.
  • VIP Program: two private coaching calls per month for your teen, one parent call per month, plus on-demand content at your own pace.
Where does the program take place?
All on-demand content, coaching calls, and community access are delivered online through our program portal. Coaching calls are conducted via Google Meet. In-person sessions for Signature and VIP families are available in Parker, Colorado.
Can I contact Colleen with questions during the program?
Yes — ongoing support is part of the deal. All enrolled families have access to Colleen through the community portal and email throughout their program. You are never on your own between calls. Response times are within 2 business days.
What if I need to pause or take a break?
Life happens. If you need to pause your participation, reach out to us at contact@thekeycoach.org and we'll work with you on a case-by-case basis. Please note that pauses do not extend the program end date and are subject to program availability.
How much does it cost?
  • Self-Study 21 Days to an Independent Teen: $199
  • Signature Signature Program (3 months): $999
  • VIP Program (6 months): $2,499
All programs are paid in full at the time of enrollment. No payment plans are currently available. If you have questions about which program fits your budget, book a free discovery call and we'll talk through your options honestly.
What is your refund policy?
The 21-Day program is non-refundable due to immediate digital access upon purchase. The Signature and VIP programs offer a full refund within 30 days of purchase, subject to participation conditions. For full details, please review our Terms and Conditions.
