As someone who has worked with teens for years, I’ve learned a couple of things: they love it when something is fun and they appreciate honesty. This is how I approach working with teens, and is the foundation for how this group will run. School can be challenging to navigate but with the right skills, this can be a very successful year.

What you can expect from each session:

The premise for this group is something I developed called the KEY Method. KEY stands for: Knowledge, Execute/Elevate, Unlock YOU

  • In week one, we will start by gaining KNOWLEDGE about self and how certain habits play a role in having things not work. We will work to build trust within the group, stretch our comfort zones (just a little!) and lay the foundation for the next few weeks.

  • In week two, we’ll look at our mindset to determine what conversation is actually running the show. The group will work on their ‘exposure ladder’ and develop strategies to start climbing. We’ll also introduce mindfulness and talk about other strategies to use when things get overwhelming.

  • Week three is where we begin to EXECUTE new strategies, namely reframing our negative thinking. This may sound easy, but it is one of the most challenging, yet most impactful, conversations a person can have. Week three is where we examine habits closer and how those habits negatively or positively impact how we’re feeling.

  • Week four is a a time for participants to reflect on how far they’ve come and to determine which strategies will support them to continue to stay on a positive path. We will learn a little more about how to continue to overcome negative thinking and spend time in gratitude/acknowledgement for our fellow participants.

Yes! It is possible in 4 short weeks to have a HUGE impact on a person. This is especially true for teenagers, whose brains are not yet fully developed and still open to trying on a different way of being.

I’m super excited for this group and can’t wait to get started! If you’re unsure or want to talk further, give me a call (or shoot me a text). Sometimes talking things through with someone makes a world of a difference! colleen@thekeycoach.org 720-334-8125
